Meet Gaby

I’ve been passionate about engineering since middle school, where I first discovered how design and problem-solving can help build a better world. In high school, I began exploring how engineering could be applied to real climate solutions. My first deep dive came at Brown University, where I studied renewable energy and explored how wind and solar power can transform communities.

During my sophomore year, I was selected for a fellowship with Rustic Pathways, where I worked on projects focused on sustainability and community resilience. Around the same time, I founded Onda Verde to empower youth around climate justice and sustainability—especially in communities that are disproportionately affected.

The summer following my sophomore year, I had the opportunity to study Climate Science at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where I learned how environmental issues are linked to health and global equity. Immediately afterward, I crossed the Atlantic to study engineering at Oxford University, continuing to connect my technical interests with real-world climate challenges.

Today, through Onda Verde and my studies, I’m focused on one mission: using engineering and science as tools for climate justice. I believe young people can—and must—lead the way toward a sustainable future.

When I’m not in school, working on Onda Verde or with the robotics team, you can usually find me exploring new ideas for sustainable engineering, or connecting with peers who share this passion.
